KNIPEX crimping system pliers are among the most flexible crimping pliers available thanks to their interchangeable dies: each with precisely fitting, high-precision dies and numerous contact ferrules for well over 1,000 applications.
The 97 43 66 EVO is a special version with an extended gripping width. Its pre-assembled crimping die and contact ferrule crimp the particularly robust MC4 EVO2 photovoltaic connectors with 4, 6, and even 10 mm² cross-sections.
In Germany and many other countries, solar installers have long relied on MC4 connectors for cabling photovoltaic systems. For very large systems and wherever particularly harsh environmental conditions prevail, their successors are becoming increasingly popular: the significantly improved MC4 EVO 2 connectors.
The 97 43 66 EVO crimping system pliers are the specialist for these modern and robust PV connectors. This special model of the crimping system pliers offers an enlarged opening width, allowing it to also crimp EVO 2 connectors with 10 mm² cross-section. Its pre-assembled crimping die offers a high capacity 13 with crimping beds for 4, 6, or 10 mm² conductors. The pre-assembled contact holder ensures optimal alignment of the connectors during crimping. With this special "locator" and its almost parallel crimping movement, the system pliers always ensure maximum conductivity, making them the professional standard for large PV installations.
MC4 EVO 2 and KNIPEX 97 43 66 EVO: perfect for large photovoltaic systems.
Especially in PV systems, optimal conductivity is essential 13 poor crimping results reduce the electrical and therefore financial yield due to higher resistance. In general, the virtually parallel crimping motion of system pliers like the KNIPEX 97 43 66 EVO prevents gaps between the strands, which almost inevitably occur with many crimping pliers with so-called "V-crimp" technology. The pre-assembled locator also optimally aligns the connectors so that they close as perfectly as technically possible during crimping. This ensures even better conductivity and further protection against environmental influences.
The modern MC4 EVO 2 connectors offer additional advantages: These waterproof connectors are suitable for low-voltage direct current cables, similar to MC4 in general, but are even more robust and have a higher temperature limit. This makes them particularly suitable for very large PV systems 13 and wherever harsh environmental conditions prevail.
Flexible like no other crimping pliers.
Apart from its special capability for MC4 EVO 2 connectors with up to 10 mm², the 97 43 66 EVO is, of course, still a universally applicable crimping system pliers with outstanding properties. The crimping dies and contact receptacles of the 97 49 XX series, available as accessories, enable well over 1,000 additional crimping applications: from simple cable lugs to numerous special connectors. KNIPEX generally offers crimping dies for applications beyond the offered range upon request. For crimping "standard" MC4 connectors, simply replacing the pre-assembled pliers with the optional contact receptacle 97 49 71 1 is sufficient.
The positive locking mechanism of the system pliers, which can be unlocked if necessary, ensures consistently high crimp quality. The optimal crimping pressure until the pliers open is precisely set at the factory, meaning it's perfectly calibrated and can also be adjusted if necessary. The lever action provides a noticeable increase in force and ensures fatigue-free operation with one or, if necessary, two hands. What's more, all crimping system pliers are extremely durable, as their bodies are made of special-grade chrome-vanadium electrical steel and are also carefully oil-hardened.
