Version 49 VDE
The 49-VDE version pliers are manufactured according to DIN EN/IEC 60900, and the manufacturing process is subject to regular inspections by the VDE to ensure compliance with the high safety standards that are absolutely necessary when working with power sources. To ensure fatigue-free and concentrated work over extended periods, the handles are non-slip and secure thanks to the SoftGripp coating, while the soft grip zone is ergonomically designed for a comfortable grip. The pliers with a chrome finish are drop-forged and oil-hardened from tool steel, special tool steel, or chrome-vanadium steel. The cutting edges of all cutting tools are induction hardened, making them ideal for use in industry and trade.
Better safe than sorry
Electricians trust their health to their tools every day. Because where electricity flows, there's always a risk. Whether cutting cables, installing sockets, or installing control cabinets, they need tools they can rely on. When electricians reach for the NWS VDE tool set, they will find strictly controlled, quality tools for virtually every electrical application. This is precisely what matters when it comes to professional work and health.
Safety test procedures according to IEC 60900
- Visual inspection and dimensional testing: Individual inspection of the markings on the base tool and the insulation.
- Heat and cold impact test: At ambient temperature (23°C) and at low temperatures (-25°C) on three different, easily damaged areas.
- Single voltage test: Testing the electrical insulation properties. Applying a voltage of 10 kV (rms value) in a water bath for 3 minutes and measuring the leakage current.
- Pressure test - Dielectric test: Storing the tools in a heating cabinet (2 hours at 70°C). Applying a voltage of 5 kV (rms value) for 3 minutes and applying a force of 20 N to the insulation.
- Testing the adhesive strength of the insulation: Storing the tools in a heating cabinet (168 hours at 70°C). Applying a force of 500 N for 3 minutes between the conductive part and the insulation.
- Flammability test: Applying a flame for 10 seconds.
SoftGripp with SystemSocket
The focus during the development of the pliers handles was on function, safety, and environmental compatibility. The SoftGripp handle shell, thanks to its multi-component construction, provides an improved grip while working. The tapered handle shape and the combination of various environmentally friendly materials allow the pliers to fit perfectly in the hand. The ergonomically shaped SoftGripp, equipped with varying degrees of softness, and the optional opening spring ensure fatigue-free working.
Safety is increased by an optimized anti-slip protection and the SystemClip for securing tools when working on roofs, scaffolding, and in building construction. The SystemClip, which easily slides onto the SystemSocket, creates a quick and secure connection between the pliers and the safety strap and features an integrated spring pocket for an opening spring.
